Sunset Homes Wins Anguilla Tourist Board’s 2009 Tourism Week “Room By Design” Contest!
Sunset Homes was pleased to participate in the first ever “Room By Design” Contest organized by the Anguilla Tourist Board as part of their Tourism Week of activities on Saturday November 28, 2009. The theme of the week was: The Anguilla Experience: Endurance and Opportunity in Challenging Times. The two properties must be commended for participating at a high calibre in this innovative event, the first of its kind in Anguilla. It is anticipated that several more properties will come on board next year. Kudos go out to Erlene White and Jennifer Williams who were the creative designers representing Sunset Homes.
The “Room by Design” contest whereby properties were asked to present their ‘signature room design’ within the 30 minute time frame allotted for setting up. The Anguilla Tourist Board invited teams of two employees from participating companies to participate in the Tourism Games segment of the activities. The aim was to foster a sense of comradeship among employees in the Tourism sector, as well as to add another dimension to the main Cultural Fair event.

This honeymoon suite embraces and celebrates the principles of green living. The materials chosen for the décor pieces are sustainable and recyclable - the earth friendly woods, cottons, paper, glass, stone, coconut, volcanic ash, plants and flowers exude the feeling of unity with nature – perfect for this intimate honeymoon suite. The hand sewn quilt lovingly stitched by Carol Richardson is a multifaceted textured and colourful reflection of various scraps of fabrics used by Anguilla’s dressmakers for wedding and bridal wear. The beautiful water colour oleander painting showcases the remarkable artistic talent of Anguilla’s Michelle Owen-Vasilis as she renders one of Anguilla’s most popular flowers.
No vacation suite would be complete without allowing the guests to experience Anguilla’s authentic heritage and culture through exquisite literary works such as “Bless Our Forebears” by respected historian Colville Petty and Claire Devener’s Anguilla Life.

Sound – the cotton curtains dancing in the wind exudes the beautiful sound of Anguilla’s sweet tradewinds, complementing the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below.
