Press Release – ANT Members’ Activity for November 2009: Hike Anguilla’s Eastern Coast
Hike Anguilla’s Eastern Coast with the Anguilla National Trust
The Anguilla National Trust invites its members on a hike of the east end of the island this Saturday 28 November.
Mr. Joash Proctor will help lead this hike that will begin and end at East End Pond Conservation Area. We’ll hike past Grey Pond, up along Savannah Bay, and then return to the Conservation Area. The hike will give us an opportunity to see how Anguilla’s coastal ecosystems work together: we’ll pass one of Anguilla’s important bird areas, an important sand dune system, and a long stretch of beach that is lined with seagrape trees, grasses, and other hardy vegetation. While the hike is easy-to-moderate, we recommend sturdy hiking shoes or sneakers along with hats and sunscreen. Water will be provided by the Anguilla National Trust.
We will meet at the Anguilla National Trust at 7.00am for a start at East End Pond Conservation Area at 7.30am. The hike is expected to take between 2 and 2.5 hours.
This Saturday morning activity is free of charge to all ANT members. If you’re not a member, but would still like to join us, stop by the office, pay just US$20, and you’ll be invited to participate in this and all of our other future (monthly) activities. As the Trust can only accommodate up to 20 people on this hike, interested persons should call the office at 497 5297 to reserve their place.
