In early December 2009, Sunset Homes was the proud winner of a laptop
computer courtesy, Harris Paints. Sunset Homes www.sunsethomesanguilla.com is very pleased to do business with a high calibre Caribbean product Harris Paints and commends the services and customer care delivered by the Anguilla agent Wilmouth Richardson.
At a handover ceremony held on December 10th, 2009, Marketing Director
Janine Edwards remarked: “We thank you very much for giving back to the
Anguilla community in the way of a generous raffle. We express deep
gratitude for the valuable computer prize. As a company we focus on the
support of several community and youth initiatives and today we are happy to donate our computer prize to one of our favourite and most worthy charities – W.I.S.E.”
WISE Anguilla, Workshop Initiative for Support in Education, started in
2004. W.I.S.E. focuses on students at risk with a practical inclination who
are selected to be part of W.I.S.E based on their behavioural or academic
challenges at ALHCS (Campus A, B and PRU), youth at risk (WISE Plus). The
students attending W.I.S.E. are involved in individual projects of their
choice in the areas carpentry, boat building, bamboo, jewelry, ceramics,
visual arts, agriculture and gardening, food technology, bike repair, small
engine repair, technical drawing, fashion and sewing, technical literacy and
numeracy, computer skills. They strive for the highest certification
possible. The students owns the projects when finished, this makes them work hard, follow rules and gives them something they, their peers and parents see as special. Qualified, skilled instructors are actively involved to give each student individual support, encouragement and praise for finished
projects and appropriate behavior and so improves the students’ attitude,
work skills and self-management. In time, the school and the community may be able to re-engage the students in accessing their education and achieving their best potential.
Kudos to Harris Paints and Mr. Wilmouth Richardson for exercising excellent corporate citizenship and facilitating the valuable contribution to the Anguilla community.
