ANGUILLA’S RICHARDSON & LLOYD TAKE FIRST, AND JOSEPH & PEABODY TAKE SECOND PLACE IN THE 420 CLASS.

Last Saturday, twenty-seven young sailors from St. Barth, St. Maarten, and Anguilla competed in the 4th annual Anguilla Dinghy Regatta. St. Barth came with eight sailors, Sint Maarten with twelve, and Anguilla fielded seven avid competitors, all under the age of 15.

Despite the dubious weather and some fickle winds, the intrepid sailors were able to complete nine races during the full day of racing.

The regatta format included four classes sailing two slightly different courses. Two classes (Gold Fleet and Silver Fleet) sailed in the Optimist Dinghies, one class raced in the high-performance, single-handed Lasers, and one in the two-handed 420 sailboat.

The results were:

Optimist Gold First Place, Rhone Findlay, SXM
Second Place, Alec Scarabelli, SXM
Third Place, Louis Ollo, STB
Third Place, Cindy Brin, STB

Optimist Silver First Place, Nathan Smith, SXM
