2nd, GREEN UP, AND CLEAN UP ANGUILLA SCHEDULED
2nd, GREEN UP, AND CLEAN UP ANGUILLA SCHEDULED:
Cap Juluca, in collaboration with the Anguilla Hotel & Tourism Association and many other organizations on the island, will undertake another series of island wide clean up campaigns starting Friday May 22nd, and continuing through Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th, 2010. The effort will make our island ready for the very important holiday, Anguilla Day.
General Manager of Cap Juluca, Gary Thulander hosted the first planning meeting for the event at Blue Restaurant on Monday 29 March 2010, which was attended by representatives from The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce, Anguilla Renewable Energy Office, Optimist Club of Anguilla, Interact Club, Rotaract Club of Anguilla, Rotary Club of Anguilla, Government of Anguilla (represented by The Honourable Edison Baird), and the AHTA.
Maps of villages and communities will be developed and each association or group will be assigned to a location. It is also intended to involve the schools and Minister Baird is working with the schools to bring this about.
Throughout the clean up we would like to concentrate on general litter on all roadways and villages in Anguilla and will be soliciting all businesses to help support cause with the provision of beverages, environmentally friendly garbage bags, and the removal of all garbage from the road ways at the end. We are anticipating the co-operation of many of the community’s beautification and clean up groups, as well as all community minded persons as we did last year when over 400 residents helped our first inaugural effort.
All are welcome to get involved. If you would like to join us, or organize a group to assist us in this campaign, please call Gilda Gumbs Samuel at the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, at 497-2944 or Gary Thulander at Cap Juluca at 497-6666 for more information.
