Burmese Evening
While exploring the back streets of Moulemein in Myanmar last autumn, we wandered down a small lane and entered a courtyard where novice monks were playing football. We were invited to meet the Head Monk who explained that his monastery was now taking care of 62 orphans, providing shelter and schooling. Most of the children had lost their parents in the hurricane Nargis the year before. We could see that this orphanage was in desperate need of renovation. The monks and children were working on the building while we were there, trying to patch-up their leaking crumbling roof. Since we were at the end of our trip we donated what we could but really we wanted to be able to help them more. We are returning to Myanmar in October 2010 and would like to bring a donation to help these orphans. With this intent, on Friday 23rd April we will be serving a Special Burmese Dinner. All profits from the evening will be brought to this orphanage.
We look forward to having you attend this event. Reservations required.
