YES I CAN!, SCIENCE CAMP A SUCCESS
In a series of camps offered by the Comprehensive Learning Center (CLC) under the theme YES I CAN!, this year’s Easter Camp focused on the area of Science. Participants whose ages ranged from 6 years to 11 years were exposed to a variety of environmentally-related topics. Such topics included recycling, waste management, Anguilla’s biodiversity and the interpretation and presentation of scientific data. During the four day camp (April 6th to 9th ) participants engaged through “the hands on” approach to make recycled paper cards, examine ways to conserve energy and manage waste among other activities. One of the highlights of the camp was a field trip that explored wildlife around the Sandy Ground Pond organized by the Anguilla National Trust. Other meaningful sessions were conducted by Beth Barry, Coordinator of Anguilla’s Renewable Energy Office, Mimi Gratton, Teachers Leonard Telemaque and Mrs. Joselyn Theophile-Richardson.
The Comprehensive Learning Center located in North Hill, owned and operated by the Gumbs Family and complemented by an exceptional lecturer team, plays an active role in the community by offering a wide range of educational opportunities for adults and children alike
