An Afternoon at Little Bay with the Anguilla National Trust

An Afternoon at Little Bay with the Anguilla National Trust The Anguilla

National Trust invites its members for an afternoon swim/snorkel at Little Bay Marine Park this Sunday 30 May.

Little Bay was designated a marine park in 1991 by the Government of Anguilla in an effort to help protect the area’s sensitive seagrass beds. The seagrass beds, along with the hard coral that lines the Bay’s coastal cliffs, provide important habitat to numerous species of fish, marine invertebrates, and sea turtles and, in turn, offer an exciting snorkelling experience. Swimmers, meanwhile, tend to enjoy the Bay’s usually calm waters.

As there is no lifeguard at the beach, individuals swim and snorkel at their own risk. Members who would like to snorkel should bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins. The ANT will provide water and some light snacks. Individuals are welcome to bring additional food.

We will meet at the Anguilla National Trust at 3.00pm and make our way by car to Little Bay. A sturdy rope down to the beach can be used by those who are comfortable with heights. For those who would prefer to take a boat to Little Bay, Calvin Rogers runs a regular shuttle service between Crocus Bay and Little Bay at a cost of US$12.00 per return trip.

Individuals are encouraged to contact the Trust at 497 5297 if they are interested in taking part in Sunday’s activity so that we may know how many people to expect.
