Anguilla to host the 2010 Leeward Islands Track meet

As the date for the 2010 Leeward Island track and field Championships draws near, Anguillian athletes can be seen sharpening their skills on the Webster Park. One of the persons leading the preparation of the host country athletes is Mr. Alexis Ryan. Mr. Ryan an IAAF level one certified coach is confident the team will dominate in the field events and the sprints for the junior girls. While unwilling to state whether or not Anguilla will win this year’s coveted Leeward Islands Track and Field crown. His confidence is motivated by last week’s performance in St. Martin.

According to Coach Alexis Ryan there are many athletes who should give a very good showing during the two day event. Some of these athletes include Aron Richardson (high jump and distance races), Hakeem Alves (long jump and sprints), and Nicole Gumbs (jumps and sprints). In the under 13 category he is of the view Shawnee Hazel, Katyana Hodge, Rashawn Jackson and Khalis Franklin are some of the athletes who should do well. While tight lipped about more names he suggested the Anguilla public would be treated to a highly entertaining track meet when they come on May 22 and 23 on the Webster Park.
