Team Experience wins inaugural Anguilla Day Beach Volleyball Bash Ground

 

The inaugural Anguilla Day Beach Volleyball Bash took place at a hot and crowed Sandy Ground Beach.  Experience, High fliers, Sand Sharks, Heavy hitters, Sea Gulls, Show stoppers and Libero Inc. registered for the single elimination tournament to earn the chance of securing the first prize of $600.00 EC.    

In the first game the Sea Gulls consisting of Kya, Julian and Tyron succumbed to the pressures of team Experience.   Experience composed of Justus, Ludiann and Jason won with a score line of 21 to 6.  In the second match Esau, Janai and Junior of Show stoppers tasted the bitterness of defeat courtesy of the “High fliers” Farah, Jimmy and Andre.  The score for that game was 21 to 5 in favor of the “High fliers”.  In game three Lester aka “Big Fish”, Tavia and Marsha of “Sand Sharks” tangled with the “Heavy Hitters”.  The Heavy Hitters lead by “Tucker” resisted the challenged presented by their adversaries to win by a score line of 21 to 14.  Realizing the tempo and strategies used, Cleo, John and Eva of Libero Inc. tried forcing the issue by pushing the balls to the corners of the court.  However, team Experience countered the plot and rallied to win the game with a score of 21 to 4.  

In the second semi finals the Heavy hitters were intent on eliminating the High Fliers.  Fortunately Farah of High Fliers was in fine formed as she scooped up hits of varying speeds that came her way.  Her tenacity coupled with the hitting of Andre and Jimmy lead High Fliers to victory with a score of 22, 20.

In the final game team Experience stood toe to toe against team ‘High fliers”.  The latter team won the first set through good overall playing, especially that of Farah Banks.  As team Experience was defeated in the first set, poise and savvy playing won the second set for them.  With both teams tied, at one set each all tricks were pulled out of the book.  It was vintage beach volleyball with long rallies and bodies being thrown all over the sand.  In the end, Team Experience emerged victors and earned the spoils of $600.00 EC dollars.
