MAKING A DIFFERENCE: DESERT GREEN

You may have seen the ads in the Anguillian or the signs in Blowing Point for DESERT GREEN and wondered what it’s all about. Well I am pleased to report that it’s a unique and worthy addition to Anguilla’s list of things to do. Run by self-trained “Organic Scientist” Leroy Browne of Anguilla, it is an oasis of green in the dry surrounding bushland of Rendezvous. Leroy grows a range of organic produce – and has a limited amount available for purchase – mainly his super healthy spinach, and currently okra. He offers educational tours where he shows you his garden, explains the benefits of organic farming and tells you about insect and pest control. He also offers home visits and can advise on biological pest control, organic plant nutrition, propagation and on the establishment of small organic gardens.

Leroy welcomes children and adults and offers personal tours and insights on how he built his garden, his unique methods and the scientific experiments he undertakes.  Tours are offered by appointment – Tuesday & Wednesday 10 to 11 and Saturdays and Sundays from 5 to 6 – tour fee is $5.00US. For more information contact Leroy Browne, Desert Green 1 264 729 3463.
