The Manipulation of Life: The ANT Presents “Life Running Out of Control”
Continuing with the exploration of one of life’s basic necessities – food – the Anguilla National Trust will be presenting “Life Running Out of Control” at 6.30pm on 29 June 2010 at the Teachers Resource Centre Auditorium (upstairs, Public Library).
“Life Running Out of Control” provides a “uniquely wide-ranging international perspective on the science and ethics of genetic engineering.” It takes us through India, Norway, and the forests of Colombia, “offering inspiring images of resistance and hope amidst the pressing concerns about the science and ethics of genetically modified organisms, corporate control of our food, and the patenting of human, animal, and plant life.” It is a must-see for any one who wants to look “beyond the most immediate health and safety concerns, and seek to understand the wider implications of today’s biotechnologies.”
Organic farmer Asta Niles will introduce the film by presenting on the basics of genetically modified foods.
Refreshments provided. Discussion encouraged. Everyone welcome.
