Anguilla National Trust hosts Photography Exhibit
Members of the public are invited to attend an exhibit of the works of seven graduates of the Anguilla Photography Project this Monday 19 July at 4.30pm at the Anguilla National Trust office in The Valley.
The exhibit marks the culmination of a five-day workshop that was funded by the Department of Youth and Culture through their Youth ESCAPE summer programme series, hosted by the Anguilla National Trust, and facilitated by professional photographer, Ms Marie Arago.
From 14 through 18 July, seven students between the ages of 12 and 18, participated in an intensive photography course that involved learning, among other things, how to properly use a camera and all of its settings, how to manipulate natural and artificial lighting, and how to compose a balanced photograph. As a practical course and under the theme “What Makes Anguilla Special”, students spent much time in the field capturing images of Anguilla’s natural and cultural heritage and its people.
Students will display portfolios of their work in a slide show exhibit this Monday 19 July. Students will be present to discuss their works as well as their experiences taking photographs and participating in the Project. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.
The Anguilla National Trust wishes to thank the Department of Youth and Culture (Ministry of Social Development) for supporting and funding the the Anguilla Photography Project through their Youth ESCAPE summer programme, the Anguilla Community Foundation, Social Security Board, and ANGLEC for their financial support, and Ms Marie Arago for facilitating the workshop.
