DOMINION FAITH CENTRE GETS GENEROUS DONATION FROM CORAL REEF BOOKSTORE
The Valley, Anguilla (July 2, 2010) - On Saturday, July 2, the children of Dominion Faith Centre received a very special surprise. Coral Reef Bookstore proprietor, Mrs. Dawn Reid, was on hand to donate over 70 new and used books to the church’s newly launched mini-library. Mrs. Reid presented the generous donation to Anthea Roach and Jeannine Connor-Gittens who will spearhead the library effort at the church under the guidance of Pastor and Mrs. Dexter Welcome.
According to Pastor Welcome, the holistic well-being of each child is paramount.
Speaking to approximately 20 boys and girls, Pastor Welcome said, “I believe this church is going to produce some of the best readers. Not only in your schools on Anguilla, but we want you to be a blessing to the world.”
Upon addressing the excited group of children, Mrs. Reid emphasized to them the importance of reading for a brighter future, not only in academics, but in later years for career excellence and continuous knowledge acquisition. The books offered an array of age-appropriate topics from interactive, picture-based books for very young children to bible stories,
sports, science, popular series and even one book which unfolded into a pirate ship.
Mrs. Connor-Gittens noted that, “One of our goals is to familiarize children with the process of checking out library books whille simultaneously nurturing the love of reading.”
The Coral Reef Bookstore is located in Little Harbour, Anguilla and offers Caribbean literature, contemporary books, games and educational material for adults and children.
