Sunset Homes Tenth Annual Fun Day
Sunset Homes Tenth Annual Fun Day for
The Stoney Ground/Caul’s Bottom Community
The children of the Stoney Ground, Caul’s Bottom and The Quarter area were treated to a day of fun and camaraderie on Saturday September 8th 2012. Sunset Homes, a Property Development firm in Anguilla was proud to declare its tenth anniversary of sponsorship and coordination of this annual event on its office grounds located in Stoney Ground. This year’s event took the format of a Fun Fair where there were seven booths filled with games, contests, lucky dips, hoola hooping, skipping, juggling games, art and craft, face painting and food and beverages. There was also a grand raffle of a Digicel phone and the highlight event to culminate the proceedings…the eagerly anticipated Tug-o-War. All refreshments, prizes and games were provided complimentary to the children.
This event comes out of an active cooperation within the community, reminiscent of traditional communal activities, where villagers come together to work on select projects. Members of the community in the area prepare for this event. The event aims to encourage community spirit and to provide a stimulating, productive activity for the children where they can win educational prizes. Over 100 children and their families were present and all children attendance received school and sports supplies ranging from back packs, exercise books, stationery, footballs, games and more.
Appreciation goes out to all the persons who gave so generously of their time and resources including: The Royal Anguilla Police Force, Games Director Alfred “Allie” Douglas, Chief Coordinators Joan Johnson and Alma Gumbs, Charlene Roach and other members of the Sunset Homes staff.
Special mention must be made of the very generous donation made by Joseph Williams and Kathareen Rogers who sent a wonderful array of special educational gifts and supplies for the children. These two persons are Anguillians living in the US who continue to contribute back to the children of this community through various programs and events.
Stellar support was received from supporting sponsors including Sandcastle Villa (Pageau-Goyette family), Arijah Foundation, Anguilla Public Library, Tropical Treats, Anguilla Football Association, Digicel, Best Buy Supermarket, Department of Youth and Culture, Watson Hodge/Caracasbaii, Lawrence “Big Time” Hodge, J.W Proctors, Mary’s Bakery, Pastor Dexter Welcome and the Dominion Faith Church, Essential Office Services, Ivor and Carmen Gumbs, The Royal Anguilla Police Force, David Thomas, Anita and Canita Ruan, Anguilla Printers, Brother Lee and his Team and The Anguillian Newspaper.
